The fact that the East Sea is the unique territorial sea of Korea is proved historically. The name ¡®East Sea¡¯ has been used in Korea for over 2,000 years, including in History of the Three Kingdoms and "Map of Eight Provinces of Korea" (1530). On the other hand, no Japanese record published up to the late-18th century indicated any name for the body of water. But by the late 19th century when Japan invaded and colonized Korea, they had a distinct influence in the international community from then on. Therefore, ¡°sea of Japan¡± became more common. But now, We Koreans are working hard to correct the errors.
According to the International Hydrographic Organization, ¡®marking at the same time¡¯ is recommended if the parties fail to agree on a single name for the terrain they share. Therefore, I think that the sea between Korea and Japan should be described as the ¡°East Sea¡± or at least with the simultaneous use of both names; ¡°East Sea/Sea of Japan.¡±
It would be very appreciated if you help me for this problem.
