'¡®East Sea¡¯ is surrounded by South Korea, North Korea, Russia and Japan. South Korea calls it as ¡¯East Sea¡¯ while Japan and the world's major maps call it as ¡®Sea of Japan¡¯.
At an objective point, there has been a change of unique historical names due to the brutal war to gain colonies in the early 20th century. This is the result of Korea's loss of sovereignty and Japan's international status in the early 20th century, when the world's geographical names were standardized. Although Korea has raised objections ever since its independence in 1945, the case remains an unsolved problem in the international community.
International organizations recommend unifying names if different names are used in areas shared by more than one country, otherwise each name must be used before the countries concerned agree.
Currently, Korea and Japan have different opinions, so it is up to international standards to select the two candidates together until an agreement is reached.
So we should name both 'East Sea' and 'Sea of Japan' for this sea, and I would like to recommend you this. There are several debates around the world over the name and sovereignty of the territory. In order to judge objectively, I think we should write various names together and write one name when we unify.
Therefore, please consider the above recommendations to fairly view and judge history and increase the objectivity of your website.Thank you very much.
Sincerely, yours.
