Juhyun,
Thank you for taking the time to write. Currently the style of the U.S. Naval Institute is to refer to the bo dy of water between the Japanese home islands and the Korean pen insula as the "Sea of Japan."
However, we constantly revise our style guide relative to changes to mapping nomenclature. I've alerted out committee to the distinction you've raised and we'l l take the issue up for consideration.
