We appreciate your concerns regarding the Sea of Japan/East Sea name issue.

Reuters follows the most commonly used international practice, used by the United States and others, in calling the body of water the “Sea of Japan.” We follow the U.N. practice in using the most commonly used name without advocating or endorsing any party’s position.

We are aware of the sensitivities of the issues surrounding the name of the sea and deeply considered the issues you raised.
