Hyunjong,

Until we receive new guidance, we have a standard answer about sea names listed on our US Government site:

'Standard geographical naming is a national policy of the U.S., as determined by our Department of State to which NOAA must adhere. This policy states that ¡°Sea of Japan¡± is the standard name used in all U.S. federal publications for the body of water between the Korean Peninsula and Japanese Archipelago. The Department of State also indicates that the U.S. does not support dual naming practices for seas, particularly in standardized publications.'

We appreciate your feedback and we will continue to look into the dual names.

 Regards,  Andy
