We are aware of the viewpoints in Korea relating to the presence of specific text,
maps or images on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is a multi-national, neutral point of view
project, which aims to share the sum of all human knowledge. Like any large body
of knowledge and information, there is information and material that may be
problematic for some audiences - whether they dispute claimed facts or feel the
information or material is offensive. Regardless, we do encourage all editors to
be cognisant of the laws and customs of their countries when making edits.
Wikipedia is also a space for open and transparent discussion. On complex matters
we expect and encourage our community to engage in debates and discussions to
determine the validity and accuracy of information and facts. Wikipedia is
improved by the presence of many viewpoints, experiences, and perspectives.
Removing information simply because it may be uncomfortable to some users would be
a disservice to our global audience, to future generations, and to the persistent
values of our community.
Yours sincerely,
Robert Laculus
