Hello So-eon- The U.S. State Department said that "Sea of Japan" is the official term for the body of water you are inquiring about.
I understand that the Korean government calls the body of water the "East Sea" and there is a dispute about the naming.
Because NASA is a government organization, we must adhere to the naming as recognized by the U.S. State Department.
