I'm currently studying the history of the East Sea. While surfing the internet, I came to visit your website below.https://news.usni.org/2022/05/25/chinese-russian-bombers-hold-joint-exercises-near-japan-korea which has a critical error. It has indicated East Sea as Sea of Japan which is internationally unknown and wrong. It shoulud have said that East Sea NOT in Sea of Japan. However, I have found wrong information in your website from other sources during the research. In the content of your website, the name of the East Sea between Korea and Japan is described as Sea of Japan". It seems unreasonable to use the name "Sea of Japan" which is wrong Therefore, I believe that the East Sea should be mentioned correctly

The East Sea is a diamond-shaped blue sea east of Eurasia. The East Sea is surrounded by South Korea, North Korea, Russia and Japan. While Korea calls it the ‘East Sea’, major maps of Japan and the world call it the ‘Sea of Japan’. Following this, the current name for the sea between Korea and Japan should not have just one name decided on but the joint use of the Korean name “East Sea” and the Japanese “Sea of Japan” name together in accordance with international law.

However, the Japanese government is continuously claiming that Dokdo is part of Japan, providing old documents as evidence. This cannot be a fair nor true basis that proves Japan’s claim since Japan damaged tons of Korea’s historical materials over the 35 years they forcibly ruled over Korea. They are just arguing with hardly acceptable evidences and using their diplomatic position to make absurd claims. |

The first record of “East Sea” was in The History of the Three Kingdoms and the Saga of King Dong- myeong and in the process of recording matters in around 59 B.C., “East Sea” appears. It is also known that it was used jointly with the country name of “Japan’s” use of the “Sea of Japan”name starting around 700 years afterwards. Moreover, the “East Sea”, starting with the Korean peninsula, is bordering Japan, Russia, etc. so it is not just Japan’s sea, but a sea that many countries share. Therefore, Japan’s opinion of one-sidedly referring it to independently as the “Sea of Japan” is not right
i ask you to replace the “Sea of Japan” with “East Sea”. Again, I hope you understand that this is a serious problem .
