The two terms, 'The Sea of Japan' and 'The East Sea', being used provisions that it is reasonable to refer to the body of water between two countries as 'The East Sea'. According to Samguksagi, King Dongmyeong's Episode, Eight State Map as well as a variety of historical maps and records, the term 'East Sea' has been used for more than 2,000 years. For your reference, 'Samguksagi' is the oldest historical book in existence, which describes the history of Silla, Goguryeo and Baekje. All these three countries exist before Christ, which means they exist more than 2000 years ago. Moreover, the 'Eight State Map' is a map made by woodblocks, describing the history of Joseon dynasty. However, the term 'Sea of Japan' first used in great universal geographic map by Matteo Ricci in 1602. Various historical records have come that Japanese had not re-recognized the 'East Sea' as their territory since then. For this reason it is unreasonable to use the term 'Sea of Japan' in your map.
