Hello, I am Jaeuk Shin from Korea, Jeohyeon high school and I was almost satisfied with your website. I think it will be very interesting and helpful for everybody. To introduce myself, I work as an active member of the Dokdo Cyber Press, a non-governmental and voluntary organization with the mandate to provide correct information about Korea to the international community, including websites like in this place. I am writing to you as I have important suggestions to make in regards to your article.

As I saw some maps in your website, it was a great surprise for me to find out that the article makes others be confused with ¡®Sea of Japan.¡¯ and ¡®East Sea.¡¯ The the sea between the Korean Peninsula and the Japanese archipelago is currently named as ¡°Sea of Japan¡± in your website¡¯s article, and it should be corrected to ¡°East Sea.¡±

There is a legal reason for it. When there is a sea between two countries, country on the western side should decide its name. However, since Japan got higher power during World War II, Japan suddenly named the sea between Korea and Japan as ¡®Sea of Japan¡¯ and international society just accepted it. At that time, Korea was a colony of Japan, so Korea didn't have power to claim something against Japan although the naming right was in Korea.

So, in recent days many Koreans (including Dokdo Cyber Press) are trying hard to get our right(to name the sea) back. We are working on correcting the names such as ¡®Takeshima¡¯ and ¡®Sea of Japan¡¯ to ¡®Dokdo¡¯ and ¡®East Sea¡¯, and trying to reveal the truth with the military slavery by Japan. And I hope that you correct the name of ¡®Sea of Japan¡¯ to the right words: ¡®Dokdo.¡¯

I understand that you won't want to be involved in political matters, but this is not a political matter. The International Court of Justice agreed to use ¡®East Sea¡¯ and if wanted, it is possible to use both terms together. Also, both Korea and Japan agnized the sea as "East Sea" from 5th century and many historical reports supports our allegation. "East Sea" wass so beloved by Koreans that our national anthem starts with a word, "The water of East Sea". (The first syllable of our national anthem is "The water of East Sea and Paektu Mountain")

I humbly ask for your company to seriously consider the issue of changing ¡°Sea Of Japan¡± to the ¡°East Sea¡±. Please visit the website (http://dokdo.mofat.go.kr) for more specific information on geographical designations. The website offers texts that is written in English or other languages as well.

I would like to appreciate your time for reviewing my letter and will be more than honored to get reply from your company via my e-mail.

Thank you for reading this long letter.
