Dear Washington Post,

Thanks for the good articles, I have been enjoying reading them.

I am Do Yoon, Jung, a Korean student who is a reporter from Dokdo Cyber Press, which is a site that provides correct information about the disputes on Dokdo Island.

º»·Ð

Recently, I have found an error on the map on the news (URL: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/world/island-disputes-in-asia/index.html), with graphics by Bill Webster.

The map has the phrase ¡°Sea of Japan.¡±

However, it should be changed into ¡°East Sea.¡±

¡°Sea of Japan¡± being kept written, the Post may be recognized as providing information or terms which are not neutral.

The term had been only used in the period of imperialism, mostly in Japan.

On the other hand, the original term ¡°East Sea¡± has been used throughout history and doesn¡¯t look excessively pro-Japanese.

Therefore, maps should contain the term ¡°East Sea¡± or at least use both of the terms, ¡°East Sea(South Korea)/Sea of Japan(Japan).¡± Or, please provide information on both side of view, South Korea and Japan when writing articles on such disputes between the two countries.

I hope such errors will be fixed since it highly affects people who do not have the correct information and the truth on East Sea and Dokdo Island.

If not available, would you please provide an e-mail address that I could contact with the person who provided the graphics, Bill Webster?

Thank you for reading this letter, and I will look forward to see more interesting news.

Yours sincerely,

Do Yoon, Jung.
