서론 |
First of all, it is the great honor to send an email to NGDC especially NOAA. My name is Hyuk-Jae Lee, and I'm a highschool student of Hana Academy Seoul, Republic of Korea. Also I'm a member of the Dokdo Cyber Press, a non-governmental and voluntary organization which endeavors to inform Korea and correct misleading information of our nation.
With my deepest respect, I request NOAA to correct the mark, "Japan sea" to "East sea."

When I searched "East Sea" on this site, (http://maps.ngdc.noaa.gov/viewers/bathymetry/) I was surprised that USA governmant organization which has great public confidence is using misleading information, which records East sea as a Japan sea.
Since numerous people use and believe NOAA's data as a fact, It could be the huge problem to our nation.
Furthermore it contains potential danger if this data are exposed to students in the world consistently.
Naming the sea between Korea and Japan could be regarded as a controversial issue, however our organization and our nation hope to recorded as East sea.

As a result, I respectfully ask NOAA to consider seriously erasing "Japan Sea" on the map. Please visit the website (http://dokdo.mofat.go.kr) for more specific information on geographical designations if you need any.
