To Whom it may concern,
Greetings,

I am Seonwon Kim from the Republic of  Korea.
I am continually surfing errors on websites about Korean history or territory.
Your website says that "The Sea of Japan "is the only confirmed name.
I have to correct you on what you are missing as follows.

º»·Ð
What you are missing is the history of naming the East Sea.
East Sea is the only sea where is located between Korea and Japan. The 'East Sea' has been a popular name in East Asia for over 2,000 years.

Ancient maps rarely said the Sea of Japan before the 18th century.
Japan invaded and conquered Korea in 1910. During the colonial period, the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) established this sea as the Sea of Japan.
Korea had no rights against Japan at that time. It was not fair.

°á·Ð
The updated recommendation of IHO is naming simultaneously for the area where two countries get no agreement on a single name. Therefore, I recommend calling it "East Sea" or "East Sea/Sea of Japan."

I request you to change the proper terminology on your maps.
I look forward to hearing good news from you.

Sincerely,
Seonwon Kim
