Hello Wikipedia. This is Doyeon, a high school student from South Korea.

º»·Ð
I contacted you because I came across your Wikipedia page about the Sea of Japan. Wikipedia is a very reliable source that many students use. However, the "Sea of Japan" is an incorrect way of writing "the East Sea." Sea of Japan potentially involves the meaning of one specific country controlling over an international territory. Moreover, the name "Sea of Japan" was created in the era of Japanese imperialism, and before than, its name was "East Sea," the name that was used throughout history.

Your website is used a lot by students and is called a reliable source around the world. I believe that your incorrect post on the East Sea will cause international misunderstanding. I hope you will consider changing the past name into a relatively neutral name - East Sea. Thank you so much.

Best regards,
Do Yeon Kim
