Dear editor of ELEVEN,

Hello, my name is Selin, a member of Dokdo Cyber Press of South Korea.
I'm contacting you about an article that I read on your website which was about Dokdo(which you wrote in the article as 'Takeshima') with the title S.Korea collected seabed samples near Takeshima island without Japan's
consent.'(https://elevenmyanmar.com/news/s-korea-collected-seabed-samples-near-takeshima-island-without-japans-consent-asianewsnetwork), which was published in 20 February 2019, and I found that there are some errors in the map used in the article, also in the article itself.

First, the name of the island is 'Dokdo' not 'Takeshima'. If you see 'The Dajōkan Order' the order given by the Dajōkan, the highest administrative body of Japan at the time, to the Japanese Ministry of Home Affairs, confirming that Ulleungdo and Dokdo were islands outside of Japan's territory. (You can find more information from here : https://dokdo.mofa.go.kr/eng/dokdo/reason.jsp) Also, if you see The Chosen Tokai Kaiganzu("A Map of the Eastern Coast of Korea") by the Japanese Ministry of Navy, it indicates that the two island(Dokdo and Ulleungdo) are within Korean territory.
Second, the name "Sea of Japan" needs to be changed as "East Sea". The term "East Sea" first appeared in a historical document dating back to as early as 59 B.C., and has been used for over 2,000 years and not only in Korea but on world maps and even on old Japanese maps. This proves that the name "East Sea" was used 1,700 years before the first appearance of the name "Sea of Japan".
Also he name"Sea of Japan" is a legacy of Japan's 1910-1945 colonial rule of Korea. Therefore it is unacceptable for us Koreans.

I really enjoyed reading articles about global pandemics from your website, but I'm sending an e-mail so that the world could know the truth, or at least don't get confused with false facts about Korea-Japan dispute with Dokdo and East Sea.
It could be seen as a minor issue, but I believe that knowing the fact is important to everyone who visits your website. I hope the fact reflected in the website.
