Dear, Webmaster.

Hello, I'm Eunwoo Lee, a student of the Korea Science Academy of KAIST.

Visited on your Web site recently, I found that East Sea was erroneously marked as 'sea of japan'.

I'm sending you and email to inform you of this error.

It¡¯s on your website, ¡®https://whereismap.net/¡¯ on the page introducing about the east sea.

The word ¡®sea of japan¡¯ should be modified as ¡®east sea¡¯.

º»·Ð

Historically, the East Sea has been used by Koreans for more than 2000 years.

Moreover, there is a history of the past 100 years, considering the historical fact that not only the Sea of Japan, but also the Sea of Korea, the Sea of Chosun, and the Sea of the East were used until the 19th century.

It is inappropriate to argue that the Sea of Japan is an internationally established name.

In particular, the fact that the names used by 50 million Koreans and 20 million and 70 million North Koreans are not properly considered, contrary to the general principle of mapping the name used by local residents first.

Since it is certain that there is a dispute between Korea and Japan over the name of the East Sea region, the two names should at least be used together.

It should be done until the two countries agree on a common name in accordance with the resolution of the United Nations Conference on the Standardization of Geographical Names and the International Hydrographic Organization, which are the international norms for geographical name disputes.

Therefore, the word 'sea of japan' should be corrected to the 'east sea'.

°á·Ð

I hope the word ¡®sea of japan¡¯ on your website will be corrected to the ¡®east sea¡¯ soon.

In these days when many people access information through the Internet, misrepresentations can be critical.

Thank you for reading my email.

I will be looking forward to your reply.

Have a good day.

Eunwoo Lee.
