hello, my name is Yujung and I am currently a student living in South Korea. I have wrote this letter regarding your article about the Sea of Japan. There are a few errors in repeat of the naming of the Pacific Ocean between Korea and Japan. The term used in the article- 'Sea of Japan' is historically incorrect and therefore should be changed to 'East Sea' or ' East Sea of Korea'.

For over two thousand years, this sea has been regarded to as East Sea' by Korea. The term 'East Sea' can be found in historical Korean books such as ''the history of three kingdoms (»ï±¹»ç±â), historical sights like gwanggeto stele (±¤°³Åä´ë¿Õ¸ªºñ) and many more. it remained this way until the Japanese occupation of Korea happened. in the term of 100 years of their occupation, Japan has unrightfully changed the name to 'Sea of Japan' and spread it internationally. it is unfair to be stripped away of over 2000 years of history because of an unjust 100 year occupation of our land.

The singlehanded use of the name 'Sea of Japan' is still a painful reminder of Japan's past occupation of our land. I request that the name given in the article be changed to 'East Sea' due to the reasons listed above. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I look forward to hearing your response.
