International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) is deeply to this. In 1929, the IHO published a booklet called Limits of Oceans and Seas, setting up an international standard for global oceanography. But then, the East Sea on the map of the sea is used as the Sea of Japan, or Mer du Japon. 1929 was when Korea was colonized by Japan. As a result, Korea was not able to participate in the process of publishing the ocean map. Therefore, only Japan's position was reflected in the international community. Korean is called East Sea has imported more than 2,000 years the name of our old map as well as other countries of old maps and even the old East Sea on the map of Japan. If you look about the historical soureces, you can find out the East Sea, marking has enough evidence in many ways.

It is not just a matter of Korea and Japan, but a concern of international society. Russia, Japan, South and North Korea is sharing and using East Sea together currently, so marking a specific country’s name in the sea is not rights. In this case, it is an international principle to share the names of each country, even the EO to which one name will be given. But Japan is strongly talking to the international community that writing the Sea of Japan. The Korean government and various groups including many peoles are response to this very hard.
