Hello. I'm Jinhwan Yoon, a high school student studying history in South Korea. I was browsing for relevant materials to prepare for my school presentation. While doing so, I visited your website by chance and was surprised to find a serious error. You have been using the term 'Takeshima' to name the rock island in the middle of the East Sea. But the correct name for the Island is 'Dokdo' and the reasons are as follows.

To begin with, I would like to inform you that the term 'Takeshima' is used in Japan because they still argur that the island is their territory. However, Dokdo has never been the territory of Japan. Numerous historical records support that Dokdo is the territory of South Korea. In Samguksagi - one of the oldest existing historical books - there is a record that An Yong-bok, who was the fisherman of Silla, conquered Usanguk. Also, the distance between the Oki island, the nearest island of Japan from Dokdo, is about 157 kilometers, which is approximately 68 kilometers farther than Korea's Ulleungdo. The Sejong chronicles, the official letter during Joseon dynasty, also mentions that the distance between Ulleungdo and Dokdo is close enough to see Dokdo from the other if the weather is fine. In 1900, Dokdo was officially incorporated into Gangwon-do province through the forty-first article of Korea's imperial order. Even some documents in Japan support that 'Dokdo' is the appropriate name and that the territory belongs to Korea.

Even though there are countless historical basis why Dokdo is South Korea's territory, Japan is keep arguing because of valuable resources in and under Dokdo. I ask you to make corrections on your website to deliver correct information that Dokdo is the territory of South Korea.
