Dear Sir/Madam,

This is Jian Kim, a student reporter from the Dokdo Cyber Press, a non-governmental voluntary organization in South Korea. I would like to ask you a favor about the maps on your website.

º»·Ð

The body of water lying between the Korean peninsula and Japanese archipelago is described incorrectly in the map of your website. We hope you appreciate the importance of transcending historical bias and provide accurate information about the East Asia region.

In the map of your website, the name of the sea between Korea and Japan is described as "Sea of Japan". It seems unreasonable to use the name "Sea of Japan" which is decided in the period of imperialism because its original name is "East Sea" which has been used throughout history. Therefore, I believe that the body of water between Korea and Japan should be described as the ¡°East Sea¡± or at least with the simultaneous use of both names; ¡°East Sea/Sea of Japan.¡± These days, many international organizations including U. N. agencies have corrected ¡®Sea of Japan¡¯ to ¡®East sea¡¯, and I¡¯d truly appreciate if you consider this issue seriously.

°á·Ð

I hope that the wrong information in your website can be corrected. Thank you for your time and consideration. If you can reply to my email, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your help. I look forward to hearing from you, soon.

Yours sincerely,

Jian Kim
