Dear Concerned Party,

I trust this message finds you well. My name is Yujin Hwang, and I am writing to address a significant issue regarding the accurate portrayal of Korea's history and territorial boundaries on your website.

Upon reviewing your website, I was troubled to discover an inaccuracy in the labeling of the body of water adjacent to Korea. Instead of using the correct term, the 'East Sea,' it has been incorrectly marked as the 'Sea of Japan.' I urge you to address this matter promptly.

º»·Ð

Specifically, while perusing one of your posts titled "<Tonghae Satellite Launching Ground>," I came across a disconcerting error where the 'East Sea' was referred to as the 'Sea of Japan.' It is crucial to understand that the 'East Sea' has been under Korea's jurisdiction since ancient times, dating back to the 6th century with the discovery of Dokdo, an island situated within its waters. Dokdo unequivocally belongs to Korea, as confirmed by historical documents such as Imperial Edict No. 41, issued in 1900, which explicitly designates Dokdo as Korean territory. Furthermore, Korean authorities have consistently administered and protected the island.

Despite overwhelming evidence supporting Korea's sovereignty over Dokdo and the East Sea, the Japanese government persistently asserts its claim to Dokdo, often citing outdated documents. However, it is essential to recognize that Japan's occupation of Korea for 35 years resulted in the destruction of countless Korean historical records, rendering their claims baseless and unfair.

A longstanding dispute over the ownership of Dokdo and the East Sea persists. Nevertheless, it remains an indisputable fact that Dokdo and the East Sea rightfully belong to Korea, both historically and legally.

I implore you to rectify this error by removing the designation 'Sea of Japan' from your map and replacing it solely with 'East Sea.' The use of 'Sea of Japan' not only perpetuates a historical inaccuracy but also disregards the sovereignty and history of the Korean people. Additionally, I kindly request confirmation of the implemented change.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.

Sincerely,

Yujin Hwang
