Thus, as a student journalist, I sent you an email to ask you for making a change on this map. The map on your website says that 'East Sea' is 'Sea of Japan'.
However, this is not a right name for the sea. It should be called 'East Sea' not 'Sea of Japan'.
It should be called like that for two reasons: historical and official.
1. Historically, 'East Sea' has been the official title for that part of sea for more than 2000 years around East Asia. On the old maps made in Korea, Japan, and China, we can easily find that 'East Sea' is written on that part of sea. (Not 'Sea of Japan'.) Namely, the 'East Sea' has been the name used for a long time historically, and thus, this became the official name for that sea.
2. The name 'East Sea' became officially authorized by IHO(International Hydrographic Organization), the official institute where decides the official name for the seas. IHO chose 'East Sea' as the official name due to historical background of that name - they considered the fact that this name was used for a very long time.
And thus, for these reasons, 'East Sea' is the official name for the sea.
However, your website contained a wrong information - the map says that the sea is called 'Sea of Japan'.
Therefore, I would love to ask you to change the map on your website with the one that includes 'East Sea' as a title for the sea, instead of the one used right now.
