Dear Japan Forward,
Hello, Japan Forward, I'm Jin-hee Lee from South Korea. I'm a high school student in South Korea. And I'm sending you an email to ask some help from you. As a student, I'm really into geology and history. And while I was surfing on an internet, I found out something was wrong on your website. I found out that your website included a wrong map which wrote 'East Sea' as 'Sea of Japan'. (Even the map wrote 'Dokdo' as 'Takeshima').

Finding this mistake your website had made, I'm writing this email to ask your favor to change the map into another one with correct titles. First of all, the sea between Korea and Japan should be called as 'East Sea', not 'Sea of Japan'. It should be called like that as this is the official name for the sea. According to IHO( International Hydrographic Organization), the official institute that announces the name of seas around the world, announced that 'East Sea' is the standard title for that part of sea. In other words, IHO recommends the name 'East Sea', instead of 'Sea of Japan'. Secondly, 'Takeshima' is not a correct name for 'Dokdo Island'. For a long time, historically, 'Dokdo Island' was the name used in both Korea and Japan. The title 'Takeshima' is not the historical name for the island. And also, 'Dokdo Island' is official name for that island. Surely, Dokdo is definitely Korea's territory and historically has been called Dokdo for very long time, it should also be written as 'Dokdo' only. In short, the official names for sea and island is 'East Sea' and 'Takeshima'.

For these reasons, I would really like to ask you for some help - a help of changing the map ion the website into the one that has the correct titles written on. I wish you change 'Sea of Japan' into 'East Sea', 'Takeshima' into 'Dokdo'.
Thank you so much for reading my email. If you have any inquiries, please contact me by jh030357@naver.com .
Have a good day.
Sincerely, Jin-hee Lee |
