Dear webmaster,

Hello. I'm high school student of South Korea.

º»·Ð

the term ¡®East Sea(Mer de I'est)¡¯ is universal and historical, and the term has justification at the international level. Moreover, as I stated above, the name Sea of Japan(Mer du Japon)¡¯ is a remainder from Japanese Imperialism. ¡®East Sea(Mer de I'est)¡¯ is part of Koreans¡¯ lives and lastly, as time passes, the term ¡®East Sea(Mer de I'est)¡¯ is gaining support from the international community.¡®

Also, on August of 2019, the New York State Education Department updated a portion of the curriculum involving the East Sea(Mer de I'est). Initially there was no specific name that was used for the body of water when it taught in New York schools. Now, both the names East Sea(Mer de I'est) and Sea of Japan(Mer du Japon) will be used when teaching about the region to promote sensitivity and understanding historical matters. You may refer to this site for more information.
