Hello, I'm Ha Yeon Park, a Korean student. I judged that a map posted on your website risks misleading information to many people. The display is an outright lie that your website marked Donghae(the East sea) into "the sea of Japan". I am writing to ask you to correct the wrong information. Even though it is clear that it is the "sea of Korea", if false information spread on various websites and online, many countries outside of Korea and Japan will have conflicts on sovereignty issues in the future. It may seem trivial, but please proceed with the judgment objectively when you post information online.

For more than twenty years, starting from 1992, Japan and South Korea have been involved in a diplomatic controversy of deciding whether the name of the ocean that borders Japan, Korea peninsula, Russia be named as ¡®Sea of Japan¡¯ or ¡®East Sea¡¯. In 1992 the South Korean government began to officially reject the name ¡®Sea of Japan¡¯ by addressing the issue at the 6th UN conference under standardization of geographical names. Our government points out and utilizes old maps as a very valid evidence that the term we use is legitimate. The term ¡®East Sea¡¯ first appeared in a historical document dating back to as early as 59 B.C. which transparently proves that the name was first used 1,700 years before the first appearance of the ¡®Sea of Japan¡¯. Furthermore, considering the historical background of Japan colonizing the Korean Peninsula during Joseon Dynasty (1910-1945) which is the previous dynasty of South Korea, it could be concluded that Japan exploited us in various areas.

Please modify the Sea of Japan to "Sea of Korea" based on the above details. To summarize, historically a lot of evidence supports the fact that Dokdo and East sea belongs to Korea sovereignty. It has been demonstrated and it will sustainly be Korean territory in the future. I would appreciate it if you could send me a reply and let me know if the contents I requested have been revised.

Sincerely,
Ha Yeon Park
