Dear administrator,

Hello, I'm Jieun Kim from Korea and I'm a high school student here. While surfing the Internet, I read your post about whale and I found it very interesting. However, there is an error I found in your post. The sea between Korea and Japan should not be used 'sea of japan' itself.

º»·Ð

The sea lying between Korea and Japan, which you called 'sea of japan', is actually called 'East sea'. The name 'East sea' is used from The three kingdoms era in Korea and it has been used for almost over 2000 years. The government of Korea is trying to correct this from 1991 since Korea joined the UN. The IHO, UN and many other international organizations suggest that in the case that the agreement of a name for a landmark shared by 2 countries is hard to be made, it is proper to use each working name and it's also the principle.

For these reasons, we should use two names together: the East sea and the Sea of japan. Please add 'East sea' on your post. Thank you for reading my email till the end.

If you need further information, contact me on email: sopia030206@naver.com.

Kind regards,

Jieun Kim
