Dear a relevant person

Greetings,

My name is Seonwon Kim, a high school student from South Korea.

I was searching for some historical contents in the internet

Incidentally, I found some error on your website.

I wish you correct an error, 'Sea of Japan' to ¡®East Sea¡¯ or 'East Sea/Sea of Japan'.

Now I am going to tell why you should change them.

º»·Ð

'East Sea' is the popular name for a long time in East Asia.

It has been used in Korea for over 2,000 years.

Various old maps say that the sea between Korea and Japan is written as 'East Sea'.

the International Hydrographic Organization also recommended that ¡®marking at the same time¡¯ if the parties fail to agree on a single name for the terrain they share.

Therefore you should describe the sea between Korea and Japan as the ¡°East Sea¡± or  ¡°East Sea/Sea of Japan.¡±

°á·Ð

Many conflicts between Japan and Korea have been urged for the ownership of East Sea.

If you understand historical backgrounds and evidences, it will be easy to choose the right terms.

I would like to correct the name to East Sea or East Sea/Sea of Japan on the web site.

Please reply to me if any positive change occurs.

I appreciate to your time and patience of reading my letter.

Sincerely

Seonwon Kim
