Dear the Global Times,

This is Junyoung Chun, a high-school student in South Korea.
I happened to find an error in one of your articles.
Take a look at this website below.

I found the term 'Sea of Japan', which is an incorrect term for that body of water. I'm confident that the correct term is 'East Sea'. The reason is as follows.

The IHO once passed using the term 'Sea of Japan', but this was done when South Korea was under Japanese occupation, and right when World War 1 had ended. This is unjust in today's society, and it has to be fixed.

Also, according to international rules, the name of a sea shared by two or more countries must be decided through consultation between the countries involved. The 'East Sea' is surrounded by four countries, South Korea, North Korea, Russia, and Japan, so this must be done. Furthermore, if this cannot be done, both names have to be written side-by-side.

I hope the incorrect notation can be fixed, and I ask you to make an effort to make it correct in future articles.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Junyoung Chun
