Hello, I¡¯m Dong-han Kim, student at Hana Academy in Seoul, the Republic of Korea. Thank you for providing useful information to us on your Website. However, I read your article and found something to be corrected: The sea between the Korean Peninsula and the Japanese Islands was only written as ¡°Sea of Japan¡± |

sea between the Korean Peninsula and the Japanese Islands, called as "Sea of Japan" in your article, is also called as ¡°East Sea.¡± So it needs to be corrected. In 1910, Japanese Empire invaded Korea and took control of it for 36 years. During that period, Japanese Empire marked the sea as ¡°Sea of Japan¡± because Koreans lost their sovereignty. But Korea already recovered its sovereignty over than 70 years ago. Therefore, it seems unreasonable to only use the name ¡°Sea of Japan¡± which symbolizes imperialism. |

I humbly ask for you to consider the issue of naming the sea both the ¡°Sea of Japan¡± and ¡°East Sea.¡± Thank you for spending your time reviewing my long letter and I would appreciate it if you reply via my e-mail: donghankim5@naver.com |
