Dear Sir/Madam,

I am Chloe Park, a high school student in South Korea.
While surfing the web, I found a map that refers to the sea between South Korea and Japan as "Sea of Japan."  So, I am writing to you this email to inform you that the correct term for the sea is "East Sea."

º»·Ð
There has been a dispute over name of the sea between Korean and Japanese. Korean call the sea "East Sea", but Japanese call it "Sea of Japan." The UNSCGN, the international organizations which determined the standard names of the seas in the world, suggests that in the hard case on the agreement of a name for a landmark shared by two countries, it is usually recommended to use both names of two countries.

Therefore, it is a mistake to refer the sea as "Sea of Japan." I suggest that you write "East Sea" on where you marked "Sea of Japan."

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely yours,
Chloe Park
